Traditional Chinese medicine industry which is China’s national treasure has 5000 years of history. Traditional Chinese medicine which is relative safety and cheap has little side – effect, clinical curative effect, huge potential for innovation and broad development space, especially has incomparable advantages in the treatment of some diseases over western medicine. Human ushered in the era of more thriving today with entering the 21 st century.People begin to have more comprehensive understanding to the great potential of preserving one’s health of the traditional Chinese medicine with respect for nature and compliance with the laws of science. Then, the traditional Chinese medicine industry which can not only promote economic growth, but also safeguard human health, has become the darling of the modern society life.Speeding up the development of the Chinese medicine is bound to make great contribution to human health and civilization.The industry which is Qichun’s characteristic industry has the advantages of having humanistic resources and rich traditional Chinese medicinal materials resources. There are about 1892 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine recorded in Compendium of Materia Medica. Qichun County which is Li shizhen’s hometown is suitable for more than 700 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine to plant. With the implementation of the strategyof rising of central China,the deepening of the reform and the demand for Chinese medicine products both at home and abroad is expanding, Qichun County’s traditional Chinese medicine industry ushered in the golden period of development. But, in this golden age, Qichun County’s traditional Chinese medicine industry encountered the bottleneck in the road of development.According to statistics, the output of traditional Chinese medicine industry in2009, 2010 and 2011 are 486 million, 574 million and 826 million. The output in the three years has a rising trend. But the output of traditional Chinese medicine industry in 2012 and 2013 are 969 million and 954 million. The output in the two years stops to increase and begins to reduce. It shows that Qichun County’s traditional Chinese medicine industry has started to go downhill.This paper found the industry not only has some disadvantages like the planting scale of traditional Chinese medicinal materials is so small, lack of traditional Chinese medicine enterprise clusters and high-end research and development personnel, but also faces the hit from "foreign Chinese medicine" and the challenges of the domestic provinces which are strong at traditional Chinese medicine industry.The disadvantages are the primary cause of the declining of Qichun County’s traditional Chinese medicine industry. It will be hard for Qichun County’s traditional Chinese medicine industry to develop with the disadvantages. This article finds out the advantages and disadvantages, developing opportunities and challenges ofQichun County’s traditional Chinese medicine industry by the analysis of SWOT. It considers that the development should prominent the advantages of resources and culture, grasp the good opportunities and the government need to improve the environment to gradually eliminate the disadvantage. Then,Qichun County’s traditional Chinese medicine industry can face the external challenges.The purpose of this topic is trying to explore a suitable way for the development of traditional Chinese medicine industry in Qichun County.This will be an attempt to find the way to make the traditional Chinese medicine industry in Qichun County stronger and hoping it will do good to the development of the traditional Chinese medicine industry in Qichun County.
