As the most basic material production activity, construction industry is the guarantee of human production and life. The economy is in a high-speed development stage, since China’s reform and opening-up. At the same time, the surge in demand for infrastructure construction, civil engineering and housing construction is increasing rapidly, which making the construction industry get a rapid development and become more and more important. Specifically during the period of Eleventh Five-Year Plan and Twelfth Five-Year Plan, the pace of development of the construction industry has been faster than ever before, undoubtedly become a pillar industry of our country.At the same time, however, unsustainable problems in the traditional development of the construction industry are also increasingly outstanding. Problems such as consuming of the resources and energy, damaging of the ecological environment, the imbalance of high-input and low-output, the low level of science and technology and so on are becoming shackles of the construction industry and region development. The concept of sustainable development has already penetrated into every aspect of the whole world, and it is necessary for the construction industry to implement the strategy of sustainable development. The choice of implementing strategy of sustainable development is not only the rational thinking within the industry, but also a performance of take responsible for the society. In order to identify the advantages and disadvantages in construction industry sustainable development, it is necessary to make an accurate evaluation on the level of the sustainable development.This paper is focused on Anhui Province, putting forward the concept of sustainable development of construction industry based on the study of sustainable theory. Construct the construction industry sustainable development evaluation index system and RAGA-PP model based on the present situation of the construction industry development in Anhui.And then make a comparation of the level of construction industry sustainable development of Anhui, the central region and the Yangtze River delta. In this paper, the main content includes the following five aspects:1. Analyzed the sustainable development theory, sustainable development of construction industry theory, evaluation methods according to the time context of literature.And introduce the concept of sustainable development into construction industry,combined with the feature of construction industry puts forward the concept of sustainable development of construction industry.2. According to the classification of factors affecting the sustainable development of the construction industry, The status of the development of the construction industry in Anhui were described by the qualitative and quantitative combined, the combination of words and ICONS. Comparing with the central region, Yangtze River delta region, the research presents the progress and the shortage of construction industry in Anhui.3. Combine two of the current research ideas innovatively, according to the connotation of sustainable development of construction industry, internal and external factors, and six principles in building the evaluation system. Propose evaluation framework into the target layer, criterion layer and index layer three levels, a total of 28 indicators,after screening the index. This paper introduces the evaluation method of Real-coding-based Accelerating Genetic Algorithm and Projection Pursuit Model(RAGA-PP) which is more suitable for solving high-dimensional complex problems. And introduces the principles of the method and model concisely and clearly.4. Programming the RAGA-PP model by using the MATLAB software. Make a longitudinal evaluation analysis of Anhui construction industry sustainable development level from 2006~2013, and comparison analysis of the central region and Yangtze River delta region of industry sustainable development level from 2006~2013. Then make a cluster analysis of the evaluation results, identify the strengths and weaknesses of Anhui construction industry sustainable development and put forward some constructive suggestions. The empirical research mainly gets the following conclusion:(1) Construction industry sustainable development level in Anhui has maintained a growth trend, but each subsystem growth is not balanced;(2) Construction industry sustainable development levels of provinces and cities exist significant difference. The level of the Yangtze River delta region is higher than the level of the central region, and Anhui is in the middle level.(3) Construction industry development in various regions, lack of motivation, need to find new potential points.(4) Cluster analysis is consistent with the actual situation, levels of construction industry development can be divided into four groups with significantly different gradient combinations.Evaluation of the construction industry sustainable development is an important support for the construction industry and the region’s sustainable development strategy, and has important significance. We can be more directly, scientifically and objectively observing the level of construction industry sustainable development, which is the objective basis for the construction industry sustainable development to identify strengths and weaknesses. Therefore it has practical and forward-looking significance to understandthe situation of construction industry sustainable development fundamentally.
