An Analysis On The Status Quo And Prospect Of Fujian’s High-tech Products’ International Trade

The export of high-tech products have become an important driving force of Fujian province’s foreign trade, it reached US$14.8 billion in 2013, accounting for 14.6% of total export of Fujian province. Despite the strong foreign trade growth of high-tech products, compared with developed provinces and cities, its impact in the foreign trade development in Fujian province is still weak. Our research is started on the status quo of Fujian’s high-technology products’ export and import on product structure, mode of trade and regions and so on. We found that export of high-tech products of Fujian province accounted for the small proportion of total export, and the export structure is unreasonable.Based on the analysis of the status quo, we use an augmented gravity model to analyze the effect factors of high-tech product export on Fujian province 2000-2010 panel data with 38 trade partner, finding that the major factors are GDP, space distance, free trade and the actual absorption of FDI in Fujian province. Through measuring trade flow of high-tech products export to 38 trade partner of Fujian province in 2010 using fitting regression equation, the results indicate that high-tech products export potential of Fujian province to 21 trade partners is inadequate, especially the countries in Europe and Asia, and the export of high-tech products in North America and Oceania is in the excessive condition. In addition, this article evaluates export potential of Fujian province’s high-tech products in 2015 by using fitting regression equation, looking forward to export prospects, and finding that Fujian province should be on the premise of guarantee the traditional European and American and Asian markets, exploring Oceania and Latin America countries’export potential.This article further analyzing the international trade environment of Fujian’s high-tech products through SWOT analysis method on the basis of existing policy, including the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and finding that though Fujian have the opportunities of establishment of Haixi high-tech park, it still be faced with weaknesses of Inadequate investment in R&D and the threat form fierce international competition. And we explore the way of optimization the trade environment, strengthening the construction of national innovation system and international exchange, and striving to promote export competitiveness of Fujian province’s high-tech products with comprehensive discussion from the perspective of macro aspect, micro aspect and Medium aspect. Our research has positive significance on the optimization of structure of Fujian province’ high-tech products export, realizing the optimization of high-tech industries, actively expanding the trade to partner country and promoting the social and economic growth of Fujian province.
