Community participation in tourism can effectively reduce negative effects caused by tourism and promote sustainable development of tourism. Therefore, taking the natural reserve of Haitang Mount as an example, this thesis aims to make a research on the status quo of community participation and other problems in related fields, in order to give some practical suggestions and guidance about how to carry out ecotourism community participation in natural reserves.An evaluation system of ecotourism community participation in natural reserves is constructed based on four levels, which are the degree of community involvement, its contents, benefits and vitality. And by processing the results of questionnaires of natural reserve of Mount Haitang with Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) and semi-structured interviews, the conclusions are drawn as follow:(1)in the evaluation system, community involvement weighs most important and is the key indicator to affect the score(2) The degree of ecotourism community participation in natural reserve of Haitang Mount is generally on a lower level;(3) In the spatial distribution of the degree of community participation, the six villages around Haitang mount is divided into three levels according to the score of community participation: the village of the first level on community involvement is Daban village, which scores 67.95, ahead of the other five villages; the villages of second level on community involvement are Chaoyangsi village and Sanjiazi village, whose scores are between 55-60;the villages of the third level on community involvement are Daling village, Sanyao village and Mantugou village,which all score no more than 55;(4)The factors that affect ecotourism community participation in natural reserve of Haitang Mount include the management model the of scenic spot, tourist systems and policies of the local community, community participation awareness and so on. Finally, for the current situation in China, this paper comes up with several suggestions as part of efforts to make community residents better involve local tourism and promote sound and sustainable development of eco-tourism in natural reserves.
