Our country has witnessed rapid development since supermarket chains entered China in1990s. Along with the top-speed development of economy in recent years and the continuousexpansion of high-end consumers, top-class supermarket chains gradually crop up and itgrows exponentially in terms of scale and number ever since, thus, as far as the managementof supply chains and informationization are concerned, novel requirements appear.During the initial stage of development, high-end supermarket chains are not thatpowerful in the aspects of the scale of outlets, the quantity of commodities and the number ofcustomers which results in low requirements for real-time replenishment and daily delivery, thus the requirement of real-time replenishment can be satisfied through sales status observedby inspection personnel, and the volume of daily delivery can be meet based on the averagesales volume calculated by headquarter staff in combination with judgments made inaccordance with subjective experiences. The demand of picking goods and delivery can befulfilled with the adoption of the fruit-picking method as the requirements of shelfing arepretty low out of the same reasons.Alongside the high-end supermarket chains proceeds to the growth stage, vigorousgrowth is achieved in terms of the scale of outlets, the variety and the quantity of commodities, the number of customers and the sales volume. Accompanied with the emergence of thehigh-end concept and the operation model, features including the increasing proportion ofimported commodities, the relative small size of outlets, and the refining feature of “focusedmore on the variety of commodities than on the volume” put forward high requirements interms of the real-time replenishment rate of outlets, the delivery rate of the distribution center, the turnover ratio, the utilization rate of capital in companies and the overall inventory costs. These requirements mainly refer to requirements of the picking and distribution plancharacterized by “multiple batches, variety of commodities and small volume” established byoutlets in accordance with the sales status and the marketing strategies of overall planning. Inthe case that these requirements are not satisfied and resolved in a timely manner, the standing stock out confronted by outlets will be of worse effects on the sales performance of outlets, itsmanagement and the management of storehouses as well as leading to bottlenecks in terms ofthe operation of the distribution center and the entire supply chain of logistics. As a result, thesatisfaction level of customers is on the drop. And it can no longer reflect the life quality andthe pursuit of details that the high-end supermarket chains are supposed to bring to thecustomers. Accordingly, the brand loyalty and the core competitiveness of the entire companymay be adversely affected. This paper carries out an in-depth study on the two above-mentioned requirements:For the purpose of solving the problems of real-time replenishment and daily distribution, this paper generates sales data driven by the POS sales sub-system. The sales data collected inhalf an hour is regarded as pulling replenishment from the warehouses to outlets, anddistribution center-warehouses-outlets automatic cycling replenishment is achieved based onthe actual demand generated per day or within a period by the outlets and warehouses, incombination with parameters such as the manually applied replenishment quantity of outlets, expired commodity quantity automatically produced by the system, damaging and lostquantity caused by manual handling, manual adjustment amount, promotion and new productsreplenishment quantity and the maximum or minimum system replenishment quantity, etc.Meanwhile, on the basis of the economic model for bulk order, a replenishment empiricalformula of distribution center is generated through analogue computation with indicators suchas seasonal element, promotion factor, safe inventory, minimum order quantity, and manualadjustment, etc. under consideration, and reference value is thus produced via calculation ofthe analogue computation formula in terms of one week and synchronized to the platform ofthe purchase department. To enhance the operating efficiency of the distribution center, this paper proposes toaccomplish daily operations with the RF hand-held terminal and SAP system so as to re-planand optimize the channels, shelves and categorization of merchandises of the distributioncenter, meanwhile, ABC categorization and the assigning strategy of adjacent batches areapplied in placing merchandise on the shelves and unbundling and sorting strategy of twocategories are applied in picking the goods off the shelves. In the end, this paper presents an actual project of a high-end supermarket for thedemonstration of the supply chains management schemata on the basis of POS and SAP.Acycling replenishment platform is established through the secondary development of POSsystem, SAP system and the RF sub-system handheld scanning terminal so that theautomatic+manual cycling replenishment through channels of outlets-warehouses–distribution center is realized, and key points like ABC categorization and shelfing strategy ofadjacent batches in parallel with multiple picking approaches are also introduced.
