As a sustainable production and consumption mode, remanufacturingplays an increasingly crucial role in the process of economic growth andindustrial development. The research of its particular inventory policies isdrawing growing attention. The optimality of (s,S) policy in conventionalsupply chain management problems was proved and has already guidedreal production practice for dozens of years. The existence of the optimalinventory management policy in remanufacturing supply chains, however, has not been confirmed and its policy structure has yet been unveiled.Nowadays, more and more corporates are investing massive capital intothe excavating of the recyclability potential within the company. Sinceinventory managers are facing intensive remanufacturing scenarios, theresearch of optimal inventory control policy is urgent. On the basis of awell-defined remanufacturing supply chain framework, we articulate threeissues within this paper: the existence of (s,S) type optimal inventorypolicy, the contribution of user phase information to the implementation ofthe optimal policy and the characterization of user phase while takingprocurement lead time into consideration. Moreover, the optimality of (s,S)type policy in remanufacturing supply chain and the contribution of userphase information sharing is validated by simulation experiments. Finally, the effectiveness of the inventory control policy for remanufacturingsystem is further verified by real business cases.
