With the high-speed development of economy, the number of elevators is rapidlyincreasing. More and more people are concerned about the elevator safety issue since elevatoraccidents occurred more frequently in recent years. The professional installation, maintenanceand repair of elevators have an inseparable relation with elevator safety. The present situationof elevator industry is that most elevator manufacturing enterprises are not directly engaged ininstallation, maintenance and repair of elevators, but only in charge of elevator manufacturingand marketing. Those who major in installation and maintenance of elevators are thethird-party enterprises with corresponding qualification and certificates. Elevator industrydevelopment has slowed down in recent years, intra industry competition is intense. As theindustry matures, it is much easier to cross the low threshold of the elevator installation,maintenance and repair field. The uneven third-party enterprises, some good and some bad,getting involved in price wars, drive the price to decline, decrease the corporate profit, andinevitably, invest less in the salaries of their engineering employees who earn low paychecksnot in balance with their hardworking. Poor management of the third-party enterprises and thedifficult hurdle to gain individual certificates for elevator installation, maintenance and repairleads to the increasing personnel flow, damaging the corresponding installation, repair andmaintenance quality. The above situations are the main reasons to the frequent occurrence ofelevator accidents across the country. Therefore, improving the installation, repair andmaintenance served by these third-party companies has important implications for elevatorsafety issue.Taking a typical elevator company as the research object, the thesis analyzes the existingperformance appraisal system with related theories of performance appraisal, searches for theproblems and explains reasons and facts with the combination of theories and questionnairesurvey method. Basing on the survey results, using KPI method, combining the companydevelopment objectives and requirements, the nature and feature of various engineers’respective work, the thesis determines the evaluation of key indicators, and then uses the AHPto determine distribution of the weight. Finally, the thesis designs a new and optimizedperformance appraisal system for S elevator company, to help improve the elevator companyinstallation, repair and maintenance, improve the elevator safety. In this thesis the optimizedperformance appraisal system, redesigned under the analysis on the original performanceevaluation, forms a more scientific performance evaluation system of practical engineeringproject.
