According to WTO statistics, China has become the world’s fifth largest exporter ofagricultural products in2008. The growth results are encouraging, but we also found thatthe exports actually imply the outflow of ecological elements. Exported products, especially agricultural products need land, water, energy, timber and other ecologicalfactors. They will also emit a variety of polluting waste, resulting in different degrees ofenvironmental pollution. The large scale of export leads to high resources consumptionand environmental pollution, exerting additional pressure upon the sustainable growth ofChina’s agriculture.Under this background, the present paper investigates the ecological resourcesembodied in agricultural product export of china’s provinces as well as their differences, and analyzes the overall trend of ecological resources effects based on the mathematicalmodel. This paper first estimates ecological resources and ecological efficiencyembodied in agricultural product export of china’s provinces in2007based on thenon-competitive input-output mode. The results show that the ecological resourcesconsumption of agricultural in every province is positively correlated with its level ofagricultural exports, consistent with the regional distribution of the level of economicdevelopment. From economic perspective, the ecological efficiency of the regionaldistribution of China’s provinces in exporting agricultural products appears easternleading, central and northeastern catching up, western backward, and from socialperspective, the ecological efficiency of the regional distribution of China’s provinces inexporting agricultural products does not appear obvious. Then the paper constructsmathematical model of ecological resources effects of export trade, and inspects thepressure on China’s ecological resources caused by foreign agricultural consumptionfrom the scale, technology, structure and other aspects. The results show that the scale effect and composition effect produced by agricultural exports are both negative, whilethe technique effect is positive, whose increase can ease the pressure on ecologicalresources. Finally, based on the former empirical analysis, this paper puts forward tradepolicies for sustainable development of China’s agricultural exports and countermeasuresfor the construction of ecological agriculture in each region.
