We live in an era, when everyone chases the career success. With the development ofthe knowledge economy, career success is no longer simply an objective standard evaluationcriteria, such as salary and benefits. Therefore, success criteria also shows diverse careertrend, especially in China, which rapidly develops its economies in transition. Everything isbeing explored, and more and more people explore a more successful career. Therefore, thecriteria for career success research results can help people understand the meaning of careersuccess better. To a certain extent, on the other hand, one’s career, can also help hiscompanies to optimize human resources.Firstly, the paper mainly combs the relevant theoretical study of career success. To startwith career success content, defining the dimensions of career success, sorting out themeasuring methods of career success, and then analyzing the influencing factors of careersuccess. Subsequently, it introduces cross-cultural definitions of career success under thevarious cultures. Then the paper presents the assumptions from analyzing the career successsituation in China, according to Chinese institutional environment. That is the first attemptto combine subjective and objective career success, with self-referent and other-referentcareer success, in order to explore a more objective and comprehensive career successdimension classification. Pre-investigation determines the general direction of a successful research career in thisstudy. After combing the different definitions of career success, the paper divides them intofour sections: objective/self-referent, subject/self-referent, objective/other-referent,subjective/other-referent career success. Through the issuance of a final paper and electronicversion of the questionnaire, I obtained277valid questionnaires, then take advantage ofstatistical analysis software SPSS19.0to do the descriptive analysis, reliability analysis,validity analysis, correlation and ANCOVA analysis series, drawn under the Chinese scenedifferences in outlook on career success. Then compare the different viewpoints in differentgroups, such as gender, age, education level, the enterprise nature, the monthly income. Andexplore the differences with the latest research data in South Korea.The last part is the conclusion analysis of practical significance for career managementand human resource management. It takes for academics to fill some gaps. In the last, thepaper states its limitations and innovations and ends with forward prospect.(International Business)...
