Global banking industry is facing unprecedented and profoundchanges in regulatory policy, rules of market and customer needs. Basedon the external service differentiation and internal operation of theintensification, process reengineering wave is ascendant. For the domesticbank such as N bank which have been subject to the shackles of "sector"bank, to reshape process management model of bank management can helpthem make progress in improving their service quality, operationalefficiency, management level, risk prevention and control, and form lastingcore competitive advantage which difficult to be imitated.Process bank is the cutting-edge research in the field of financialtheory. It is less than two years from concept to practice of process bank onChina banks. What is the process bank? What kind of ideas, models,methods and tools are needed to construct process bank? What’s therelationship between the processes bank and reengineering processes?What is the targets and premise of the bank reengineering? How toevaluate the effects? How to deal with the relationship between the processreengineering and management reengineering? What’s the relationship ofthe process reengineering and corporate culture? How to integrate thetradition and innovation? All of those are urgent problem to be solved intheory and practice. Compared to other popular areas of managementstudies, this research literature is very limited, and the case studies arerarely available. Nevertheless, in the last two decades, ProcessReengineering had made encouraging progress in theory and practice fromindustry to the financial sector and from foreign banks to domestic banks.Therefore, study on the process Bank has a very practical significance forthe reform of bank N. This paper’s research ideas are arranged as follows. Firstly, useliterature survey, comparative analysis, combined with the practicalanalysis method, based on the research of bank process reengineeringtheory and the application of domestic and foreign banks, find the generalmethod of bank process reengineering. Secondly, the author analysis theoperational and management problems and the causes of N bank.According to the historical tradition, organization’s mission and theenvironment of bank N, creatively using strategic vision and strategiclayout analysis tools, combining process reengineering system theory andlean management method, six sigma management methods, put forwardthe basic strategy of process reengineering of bank N. Finally, in view ofthe current domestic financial market reform is not complete, and decisionmakers to promote the process innovation are still insufficient, which maylead to the problems of process reengineering give up halfway. So, thispaper puts forward the process reengineering into the bank’s strategic coreproject, set up high-level promotion organization, and establish a strategicimplementation plan, in accordance with the established goals and steps topush forward the process reengineering.The practices of foreign process bank reengineering have made someremarkable achievements. In domestic, Construction Bank of Chinathrough the introduction of strategic investors, reengineered its businessprocess according to the actual conditions, had got a noticeable effect. Thisfurther strengthened the confidence of domestic banks to promote BPR.However, we should note that there is a huge difference between domesticand foreign banks. So, domestic bank process bank construction must takethe road with Chinese characteristics. The commercial banks shouldaccording to the actual situation of their own steadily push forward theprocess bank construction.
