For the past few years, with people’s demand growth in tourism, ice-snow tourism has become increasingly prevalent among tourists. Meanwhile, It is also positioned as the main development direction by many resource-enrichment regions to change cold resource into heat economy. As the most beautiful grassland, Hulun Buir’s tourism product in prairie and forest are fairly mature but less developed in the ice-snow tourism. There is still a gap between Hulun Buir and other peer places. This paper is an attempt to extend the design of the ice-snow tourism product in Hulun Buir from the angle of experience, aiming to make breakthroughs in the future ice-snow tourism market.In the paper, the concept of experience, tourism experience, and ice-snow tourism are fully discussed. Moreover, based on theories of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, tourism experience and experience economy, six design factors of ice-snow tourism product are concluded as follows:comfort, participation, recreation, education, aesthetic value and escape. Then the extended design path of ice-snow tourism experience product is proposed.The second part takes the extended design of Hulun Buir ice-snow tourism product as an example. It is concluded that the future trends of ice-snow tourism are characterized as unique, sportive, casual and folk after analyzing the features of ice-snow tourism product from domestic and overseas. Combined with the analysis of the design conditions, Hulun Buir’s ice-snow tourism product is further designed. The design focuses on the six factors and contains a series of creative experience product like snowfield tour bus, ice-snow polar experience, ice-snow festival, exotic ice-snow Carnival, ice-snow car cultural industry park and so forth. This study is expected to provide Hulun Buir with an anxoaction for the breakthrough of ice-snow tourism market. In the last, the conclusion offers a prospective of the product design of ice-snow tourism.
