Under the background of the Service Industry being the new engineof our economy, the hotel industry as an important part of the Servicesector will usher in a broader space and enter into the new round ofdevelopment. Hotel’s development depends on its core competitiveadvantage which root is the talent. As the backbone of hotel, theprofessional managers decide the future of the hotel, and it is the keypoint in the hotel’s upgrade development. The professional managerswith what competency characteristics and conditions can be competentfor jobs, this is the starting point of this study.Main contents are as following. First, through reviewing the relatedliterature, i.e., competency, it shows the current situation of the research.Second, through the literature research and behavioral event interview,the paper extracts28competency elements of the hotel professionalmanagers. On the basis of the28elements, the predict test is designed.According to the analysis result of the survey data, the questionnaire isamended and surveyed in a wide range of investigation. Third, the paperanalyzes the collected data by means of SPSS, and builds the competencymodel. Last, the built competency model is applied in the recruitmentsector which is a important part of the hotel’s human resourcemanagement. In this part, the article puts forward the improvements to the question which exist in the recruitment preparation, implementationand evaluation.Then comes to the conclusion. First, the competency model ofhotel’s professional managers is built through literature analysis,behavioral event interview and questionnaire survey methods. The modelconsists8factors--professional knowledge and skill, professional ethic,personal quality, innovation and decision-making, interpersonal relations,leadership, achievement orientation and self development. Second,according to the questionnaire result, the current situation of the hotel’srecruitment is revealed. In order to solve the question in recruitment, theimprovement measure is put forward.
