Land resource is scare and non-renewable, and is the basis for the subsistence and development of human society. Nowadays, researching on dynamic land use variation is one of the comprehensive hot issues. Longyang district of Baoshan City, Yunnan province is located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, the southwest open-door to the outside world of China. In the last decade, the industrial structure of this district has been deepening adjusted accompanied by the rapid economic development. In this context, studying on the land use variation pattern is of great practical significance for the sustainable development of Longyang district. This paper used the comprehensive-index model, the Markov prediction model, principal component analysis(PCA) and GIS overlay analysis etc. to find the land use dynamic variation pattern, and then built the analysis and inquiry system of Longyang district land use based on WebGIS technology. The related research content is as follow:1. Analysis of land use variation. This article chose the2001Landsat7images and the2013Landsat8images as the data sources, and then jointed, clipped and used human-computer interaction to get the land use classification maps. The comparison results show that, the proportions of building land and farm land of Longyang district are increasing in2013, and the areas of forest-grass land and unused land are decreasing while the water area is basically unchanged. By further Temporal and spatial analysis, we come to the conclusion that area of building land increased26.45%in2013and was mainly transformed from forest-grass land and farm land. The area of farm land decreased1.13%and transformed to building land primarily. And the acreage of unused land decreased19.96%and changed to forest-grass land.2. Analysis of land use degree. To make the assessment and analysis of land use degree of Longyang district by using the land use comprehensive-index model, the result shows that the comprehensive index of land use for the whole district was228.340in2001and was229.547in2013. It indicated that the land use was in an evolution period since the land use variation value is1.207.3. Land use prediction. This paper used Markov prediction model to predict the land use condition of2025. The prediction result show that in2025, the area of building land will increase21.357%, and the area of farm land will decrease1.13%, and the area of forest-grass land will decrease0.62%, and the area of unused land will decrease12.79%while the water area will increase2.73%. The comprehensive-index of land use will be230.191, higher than2013. This indicates that the land use of the research district will be still in an evolution period.4. Analysis of driving forces. By using PCA, we could come to the conclusion that from2001to2013the mental driving forces that lead to the pattern evolution of land use are GDP, agriculture development, total retail sales of consumer goods and the urbanization rate.
