Research On The Influencing Factors Of The Industrialization And Urbanization’s Coordinated Development Of The Coastal Areas Of China

Industrialization and urbanization as the two aspects accompanied with eachother of the process of the economic development, they have very importantimpacts of the health of economy. The coordinated development of theindustrialization and urbanization has become one of the hot topics of theeconomics at home and abroad. Keeping the Industrialization and urbanizationdevelop coordinately and avoiding the tendency that they separated from each otherare the keys of the economic development and the requirement of the practice.There have been three main deficiencies though most of the existing researches.On the object of study, most researches focus on the macro national or provincialview, lacking a foothold in the city of micro-level analysis. They ignore the bigdifferences of the development of industrialization and urbanization amongdifferent areas of the same country; On the research methods, most researches justcompare the international experience or establish the single-indexes of theindustrialization and urbanization to research the subject. They ignore theparticularity of the industrialization and urbanization of China, and also ignore thebig shortcomings of single-index, which are one-sided, using chaotic, and also thefact that different selections of single-indexes have a huge impact on the accuracyof the conclusion; On the research conclusion, most researches just stop at“harmonious or not”, not study the influential factors of the coordination, they can’tsupport microscopic theoretical supports when we make policies.The thesis analyzes the theories of the industrialization, urbanization, and theirrelationship. The thesis lay stress on the theoretical analysis of the relationsbetween the industrialization and urbanization and analyzes the connotation,features, pattern, and influencing factors of the relations between theindustrialization and urbanization. Under the guidance of the theory analysis, thepaper makes the empirical analysis. The thesis has the following innovative points:On the object of study, the thesis focuses on the eastern coastal regions which haveexperienced the most dramatic changes and the fastest growing in economy, withone hundred and fourteen prefecture-level cities of the eleven coastal provinces inaddition to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan are chosen as the target area; On the methods of the study, the thesis establishes the index-system of coordinationcompound of the industrialization and urbanization and uses factorial analysis to getthe coordination degree of the one hundred and fourteen prefecture-level cities fromthe year2002-2011. The coordination degree is seen as the dependent variable, thethesis then builds hypothesis and establishes a panel regression model, and usesregression analysis method to get the influencing factors of the coordinationbetween the industrialization and urbanization; On the conclusion of the study, thethesis gets the coordination degree of the target cities from year2002-2011throughfactorial analysis and gets the six main influencing factors of coordination degreethrough regression analysis. The six factors are economic development level,location advantage, the proportion of the employment in service industry, theinvestment inclination of capital intensive industry, science and educationinvestment, and environmental factors. According to the empirical analysis results,to promote the coordination of the industrialization and urbanization of the targetregions, we can take the following methods: keeping the sustainable development ofthe economy, playing a central radiation effect of key cities for the location,speeding up the development of tertiary industry and the employment in serviceindustry, increasing investments in labor-intensive industries, Adhering to thescientific education career development and protecting the environment, etc.
