An Empirical Research On The Competency Model Of The Private Entrepreneurs

The Third Plenary Session of the Chinese Communist Party’s18th Central Committeepoints out:"the public ownership economy and non-public economy are important componentparts of the socialist market economy, both of them are the important foundation for China’seconomical social development". How to promote the the private economy develophealthfully and orderly is an important subject of non-public economy in China，it becomes ansignificant issue for all the people. Small and micro businesses accounts for97.3%of thetotal enterprises in china which are the most dynamic enterprise group among the largenumbers of enterprises. To explore the Competency model of the Small and microbusinesses is meaningful to making the entrepreneur competency theory better and promotingthe development and expansion of the private enterprises. In current years，the small andmicro businesses is developing rapidly in Jiangxi Province, The research on the Competencymodel of the Small and micro businesses of Jiangxi Province will have certainreference significance for other parts of the central and western regions.51competency survey elements are found in the preliminary selection whichfinally summarizes to30after the using of the expert group method, based on theexisting theory and literatures which combined with the development of the Chinese privateentrepreneurs and the Small and micro businesses in Jiangxi Province. BEI(Behavior EventInterview) method which is an general method in the competency research. After thescreening and testing of the competency elements which through the small sample test andsummed up on behavioral interview, we completed the privateentrepreneurs competency questionnaire after the modification of the initial questionnairefinally. Based on the fact that formal questionnaire have passed the test of the reliability andvalidity, we obtained the final competency model of entrepreneurial competency. The modelincludes6dimensions which are personal traits, attitudes，abilities, management, personnelmanagement, cognition and value, interpersonal insight dimensions. These sixdimensions include24competency elements. The construction of competency modelof private entrepreneurs have a certain reference value for the government to formulaterelevant policies. Besides, it is good for the small and micro businesses and entrepreneurs tomake decisions.
