To survive in a more and more intense competition, an organization has to make itsemployees highly initiative, that is, to enhance employee engagement. To make thathappen, an organization should not only satisfy their physical needs, but also enhancetheir mental experience, making them happy. Since1980s,researchers have come toknow that workplace fun is a way to let employees feel happy and hence lead to somepositive outcomes for the organization. However, there is, so far, little research about therelationship between workplace fun and employee engagement. As a result, the purposeof this paper is to find out whether the workplace fun has any influence on employeeengagement. With a literature review, three questionnaires, and some statistic analysismethods, this paper did an empirical study of the influences of workplace fun onemployee engagement. To test if there is any correlation between the four dimensions ofworkplace fun and the three dimensions of employee engagement, using the attitudetowards workplace fun as a modifier, we are able to conclude that:(1)The introduction of workplace fun can increase employee engagement significantly, with an exception of the personal freedoms. To be more specific, the three dimensions ofworkplace fun (Socializing With Co-workers, Celebrating, Global Fun) do have influenceon employee engagement, but the fourth dimension of workplace fun (PersonalFreedoms) just has effect on one dimension of employee engagement, that is, the vigor.(2)The attitude towards workplace fun servers as a modifier in the relation betweenworkplace fun and employee engagement.
