Research On The Structure And Characteristics Of Leadership Quality Based On90s College Students’ Expectation

The leadership quality is the foundation and driving force to support the leader tocarry out the activities smoothly, which determines whether an organization can behealthy and successful run in some degrees. Good leadership qualities can strengthenthe influence of leader, which make subordinates voluntarily follow, enhancing themotivation level and creating the achievements within the purview of responsibilities.On the contrary, poor leadership qualities will reduce followers’ cognition of theirobligations, reducing their satisfaction, thus affecting their work attitude. Given theimportance of leadership qualities,“How to improve the leadership qualities” hasbeen a hot academic research. Leadership contingency theory tells us that there are noeffective leadership qualities that can suitable for any scenes; moreover, leadershipqualities must fit in the subordinate status, task structure and organization characteristics.This study inherited the logical assumption of the leadership contingency theory, whichclaims that the desirable leadership qualities of subordinates expect has an importantregulatory role on the leadership effectiveness, therefore, the paper specially reflect onleadership qualities and its improvement from the perspective of90s college studentsexpectation, exploring the hope of90s college students who are highly personalizedgroups for the future leadership qualities.The study follows the idea of literature--tool preparation--field research--dataanalysis, which probes into the ideal structure of leadership qualities that90s collegestudents expect. The study found that the desired leadership qualities based on90scollege students’ expectation are consist in4major aspects,13quality factors and65quality contents, the4aspects are:(1) As the platform of physical and mental qualities ofleadership qualities, the lower only contains the physical and mental qualities;(2) Asthe basic leader traits, the lower includes6quality elements which are leadershipcharisma, aggressive leadership, leadership affinity, leading altruism, open-minded anddecisive;(3) As the device leader quality, leadership skills, business skills, interpersonalskills and training force of the subordinates are included;(4)As the core of ideologicaland moral qualities of leadership qualities, the lower contains self-discipline andimpartiality.After, the study inspected the characteristics of leadership qualities that90s collegestudents expect.It showed the following characteristics: The90s college students hope the requirements and expectations of their future direct leaders’ quality are higher, andthe contents are diverse. Comparison of the mean quality factors, it found that90scolleges students attach a great importance to the quality and performance capabilitiesof leaders, but pay a little attention on knowledge and physical and mental qualities.Their quality concept is more realistic. At the same time,90s college students whosequality concept is perfectly fits with the individual values and people-oriented values.Besides, the desired leadership qualities based on90s college students’ expectation ofdifferent genders, different grades, different working expectations, between90s collegestudents’ expectation and vocational people’s expectation, between90s college students’expectation and managers’ expectation have in common, but there are certaindifferences. It means leadership qualities expectations are not only affected by genders,levels of knowledge, experience and other factors, but also affected by situations suchas workplace and work task.Finally, On the basis of the above, the researcher puts forward relevant suggestionsaim at three subjects such as90s college students, leaders and employers, in order torealize the cohesion between leadership qualities that90s college students expect andleadership quality status.
