E-learning has been an important mode of life-long.The support system of e-learning is a most important factor in the web-based education, which determines the quality of web-based education. Most of the current e-learning systems, which are implemented by web-based and static state of learning material and some corresponding tools, are simple applications technology in distance education. These systems, which are short of individual learning combining of Internet support to of web-based learning, have been an important subject in the support system of e-learning. Many experts of this field do large amounts of theoretic and practical studies. But the design of learning resources and the instructional activity comes short of our hopeful effect. So the technologies supporting e_learning need keep study and practice. In the first part of this thesis, the author analyzes the theory of study, the process of study and the factor of learning support. Basing on the status author suggest that the adaptive learning mode should be adopted in the distance learning. The adaptive learning mode is a good way to enhance the effect of web-based earning. So the author designs the domain model and the user model and uses the technology of data mining in developing adaptive learning support system. Not only the daptive learning system ensures the freedom to the user in his learning procedure, but also provides guidance and help which is adaptive to user’s traits. Finally, the detailed description is given to the design of the system structure of adaptive learning system in the thesis. This research topic has obtained warm support from "Development of National Equipments Technology Network Training System (Y29105170020)".
