With the rapid development of national economy, highway construction has made significant progress, therefore the quality of highway construction is also drawing more attention. Effective compaction improves the bearing capacity of the subgrade, avoiding the early destruction of the road, and ensuring the highway engineering quality. At present, the compaction quality monitoring in actual construction is mainly monitoring afterwords. There are many deficiencies by means of the method above. For instance, it cannot reflect the conditions of compaction progress in time and it,s unable to guarantee the compaction uniformity. Besides it is low construction efficiency. To eliminate the disadvantages of compaction quality monitoring in the current compaction process, this paper aims to design and develop a continuous compaction process monitoring system for the highway foundation construction, achieving comprehensive and continuous quality monitoring of compaction process.In this paper, we analyzed the correlation between the wheel vibration acceleration signal and the degree of compaction of the compacted material by establishing a "Vibration round-Soil" vibration dynamics model, thus proposed to the continuous method for compaction detection, which provide theoretical basis for the design of the continuous compaction monitoring system.Then, the design scheme of the continuous compaction monitoring system based on embedded technology was put forward according to the demand analysis. The core control module is an embedded platform with ARM processor, which is responsible for controlling compaction process and operating the whole system. The front-end acquisition module based on CPLD controller and related hardware circuit mainly completes the rapid data acquisition and data caching. The design improves the stability of the system.Besides, the paper also focused on the detection algorithm combined with digital signal processing related algorithms to process the data effectively and improve the accuracy of the system. And we developed the compaction quality control program to achieve compaction process control. In addition, the design of application software was developed based on the Qt development platform. The software system using the thought of modularization is stable andfacilitates expanding and upgrading, which can also achieve the compaction process monitoring and engineering management of highway construction. At the end of the paper, we summarized the work of the project, analyzed the advantages of the system and pointed out the improvement of the system.
