| As for the construction, maintenance and emergency on the highway, there are somedifficulties for the wired network method, which is always complicated, large, expensive andunportable. What is more, owing to a wide, complicated geographic environment for thehighway, traditional video monitoring system has a lot of shortcomings and deficiencies.According to this, we urgently need a new kind of technology to improve the way of trafficmanagement. This dissertation studied and designed an intelligent monitoring system basedon the embedded wireless network. This system can be used for highway equipmenttechnology maintenance, emergency processing as well as the departments work andcommand on the spot. The system uses embedded Linux system, C/S mode, and ARM11processor which hashigher speed and smaller volume. What is more, it combines the modern streaming mediatechnology with the wireless network technology, making this video monitoring server simple, reliable, steady, portable. The server adopts embedded Linux system with multithreadedprogramming method thus could overcomes the shortcomings of the general-purpose serverprogramming method and improves the efficiency of the program in embedded Linux system. As for the system client, we fully used the GTK which is based on the GNOME desktopenvironment under Linux system to deal with real-time video data transferred from ARM11server. The client software can obtain and control the feature of the image through theuser-defined communication protocol in the application layer. And the graphical user interfacenot only provides users with a friendly visit and control interface, but also makes theinteraction between the client and the server convenient. Moreover, the client software alsohas the function of taking dynamic pictures, which provides a valuable source of evidence inthe post-processing operation.Through testing, it is could be found that the video monitor clear, smooth and real-time.So it could satisfy the user’s demands very well and has great practical value for highwaymonitoring. In addition, the related literature is rare in the field of embedded highwaymonitoring system with wireless transmission technology. Therefore, it is a further step toapply the wireless network technology if we combine modern wireless transmission technology with embedded technology in the field of highway management. |
