In the early Republic of China from 1912 to 1918, the campaign of prohibiting Opium and Narcotics was launched in an extremely complex political circumstance and acquired somewhat success, which played a connecting role in modern history of anti-drug. This thesis makes the propaganda of Shenbao from 1912 to 1918 as the main line on research, and take you back to the history spot again, exhibiting the serious hazards induced by the Opium and Narcotics. While by the really propaganda of prohibiting Opium and Narcotics about official and folk, Shenbao can induce readers realizing that as a public opinion media what function it has maked finally, furthermore it also exhibits the new features and new forms of prohibiting Opium and Narcotics campaign in the early Republic of China. As a piece of commercial newspaper, although it had many limitations in those political circumstance, it also beared some social responsibility normally, which was worth affirming. In modern times, China had launched three Opium-banning campaigns, which was very representative in recent history, and all of which were crowned with success, about the three campaigns of prohibiting opium and narcotics, owning the deep effect and important significance one was the campaign launched in early Republic of China(1912-1918), for it terminated the history of managing opium trade legally in China. It was just for utilizing the propaganda on Opium-banning of Shenbao,the prohibition of opium and narcotics campaign in the early Republic of China reflected the differences compared the pre two campaigns,and it also acquired a temporary success, which made it as an excellent chapter on prohibiting opium and narcotics of recent history.
