Research On The Informal System Of Digital Copyright Protection In China

As the digital age goes on, people have drawn attention to the protection of digital copyright. Despite that the copyright protection environment has been increasingly improved, the piracy infringement of digital copyright is still a severe issue. The legislation of copyright protection is gradually strengthened, however, why does the digital piracy remain difficult to prohibit? On account of the consideration above, this essay focuses on the protection of digital copyright in China in the view of New Institutional Economics.The essay analyzes the status quo of digital copyright protection in China in regard of history and present, and found that the current formal system of copyright protection for individual users exits digital piracy constraint failure, resulting in the necessity of enhancing the informal system of digital copyright protection. On this basis, I have taken an online survey which shows that there emerges an inconformity between awareness and behaviors in respect of copyright, especially the acknowledge of digital piracy. Factors of the informal system attribute to undesirable values,conventional cultures that differ from contemporary copyright protection system, and the habit of long-term piracy usage. And then I make a deep-in discussion about the factors of the informal system that affect these issues. Above these, the essay argues that to strengthen the public awareness of digital copyright protection with the informal system is imperative. What can we do? It features on enhancing the communication impact of mass media, improving the communication education of campus culture, as well as fulfilling the instructive role of the government.
