The Design And Implementation Of Conversion Software SunBraille For The Visually Impaired

With the development of computer technology, the blind has got a lot of attention in the field of accessibility, because language plays a great role in our daily lives as a carrier of information in the information age. As the blind get Information by tactile feel, Braille arises at the historic moment. But Chinese Braille reading resources are still very limited at present. The study of Chinese convert automatically for Braille is in its infancy stage, so Chinese-Braille conversion system design has considerable practical significance.This paper mainly discusses the han-blind conversion system for its design and realization. Through the learning and understanding of the characteristics of the Chinese and pinyin, a three-layered framework is proposed in the model, including Chinese word segmentation, Chinese-pinyin conversion and pinyin-braille conversion,which were described by the formal method in detail. Using the Java programming language, we developed an automatic conversion software, the SunBraille. The software has the characteristics of lightweight, portable and extensible.In the process of transformation, the Firstly the system uses the more popular model, the conditional random field of Chinese word segmentation tools to cut and links writing for Chinese words. Accordingly, these words are marked full tone in Chinese-pinyin conversion. The System establishes a Thesaurus in the last step. The thesaurus contains Chinese words, letters, numbers and symbols, collectively known as characters, converted by a corresponding Unicode encoding. Finally, the braille ASCII is output through braille printers into Chinese braille which the patients with visual impairment can understand. The test showed that SunBraille can be used to give error-free conversion and help the visually impaired to gain Chinese information.
