The Key Technology Research On Paper-Mediated Braille Automatic Recognition System

This paper researches the key technology of paper-mediated Braille automatic recognition system. Based on image processing technology, design the program of paper-mediated Braille recognition, and study the Braille image acquisition, Braille image processing methods, and Braille detection and recognition method.This paper, detailed describes the acquisition way of Braille, and designs a Braille acquisition device. For acquired Braille image, do tilt correction, enhancement and gray scale adjustment. That applies the image segmentation technology to get binary image of single-sided Braille image is to extract effectively the Braille dots from the single-sided Braille image.And that applies support vector machine (SVM) method to extract one-sided Braille dots of double-sided Braille image to output the binary image solves the current difficult problem of double-sided Braille extraction, and provides a new approach for the double-sided Braille extraction. Finally, according to the Braille binary image and the paper-mediated Braille properties, we research a Braille detection and recognition method, which change Braille into Hanyu Pinyin, Arabic numerals and punctuation marks.A large number of experimental studies have shown that the designed Braille recognition system can effectively solve the extraction and recognition of single-sided and double-sided Braille, and provide a theoretical basis for research and development of paper-mediated Braille recognition system.
