Fiber type angular velocity instrument is a new type of angular velocity sensor. Because of its simple structure, high precision, low manufacturing cost, it has a broad application in the field of industrial production. While the fiber ring is the core component of fiber type angular velocity instrument, its quality directly determines the accuracy of measurement of this instrument. Fiber winding machine is an important equipment in the production of fiber ring, however, the existing domestic winding machines are in a low level of automation. Due to their low efficiency and the precision of the fiber ring’s products not up to standard, their products can’t meet requirements from different domains. Therefore, it is of considerable realistic significance to develop a fiber winding machine of high precision to our country.First, in this paper, the research status of winding machine at home and abroad are introduced from two aspects including winding technology and winding equipment. Then the technical targets of the fiber ring and winding machine technical difficulties are explained. Secondly, this paper introduces the mechanical structure of the fiber winding machine and explains how to achieve the quadruple winding technology in the winding procedure. In order to complete the precise fiber laying and micro tension which are the two technical targets in fiber ring winding procedure better, at the same time, improve production efficiency. In this paper, the winding machine’s winding schedules and its subsystems’ control plans are designed. In view of the characteristics of the fiber ring’s winding process and the defects of the original winding machine, the optimized control rules of the winding machine are explored and made; Aiming at the defect of the irregular fiber ring caused by regular angle’s eccentricity, variable cross angle technology which is controlled by the trigger type time base control had raised and the development of its control software had completed. In order to keep the good side of the lateral angle in the spiral winding mode, spiral winding technology which is controlled by the non trigger type time base control had raised and the development of its control software had completed. These will reduce the fiber stress’ s detrimental effect caused by the large lateral angle. A new design is made for the hardware and software of the tension micro-tuning system. The new tension control system’s controller applies fuzzy PID algorithm, and the micro brushless DC motor is selected to adjust the tension. In the new winding machine, with the hand-held control device and the handwheel function added, array is used to realize the across layer reverse function for error correction processing. The experimental results of fiber ring winding show the effectiveness and practicality of the research work in this paper, which is theoretical and practical in application value.
