Discourse Analysis Of Figure Report In Financial Magazine

The financial figure report not only record the creative activity in economic field,but also reflect the whole history of economic development and social change. With the rapid development of business, the financial figure report has played an important role in financial report, and also a big branch of figure report.Therefore, this paper choose the financial figure report as the object.Through the text analysis and other explanations, this paper try to find the features and problems from the view of news discourse.Through the “Text-Discourse-Social”analysis, this paper study the discourse analysis in financial figure report from outside to inside,from the bottom to the top, and also from the steady state to dynamic.The theory adopted in this paper is Norman Fairclough’s discourse analysis of“Text-Discourse-Social”. The sample selected in this paper are China Entrepreneur and Finance, for both of them are the top in the financial magazine, which are typical and representative.Through the study methods of content analysis, text analysis and discourse analysis, this paper analyze the main structure of financial figure report, and propose the features of financial magazine, such as the themes, news source, news schema,metaphor adopted in the text and the skills of figure writing.Generally speaking, the main purpose of this paper is try to explore the features and the shortcomings of financial figure report, which can provide the valuable advice for the similar kind of feature story.
