Lidar-Radar is a new type of laser radar which using two frequency light with frequency difference as the probe beam, it combines the advantages of both laser radar and microwave radar, and it has many potential application and development prospects. The frequency difference tunable dual frequency solid laser pumped by semiconductor laser diode has the advantages of compact structure, high output power and wide frequency tunability, so it is an ideal optical microwave source in the optical microwave radar system.This paper proposes a development of 2μm eyesafe dual frequency solid laser. The main research contents of this dissertation include:The developments and application of 2μm solid state laser and tunable dual frequency solid state laser are summerised. The key technologies of the 2μm dual frequency laser is investigated. Starting from the principle of laser, we analysis and compare different methords of single frequency selection. The characters of the different laser frequency splitting technology are discussed in detail, based on this, we designed a LD pumped dual frequency solid-state laser, an intracavity etalon coupled cavity two method is for mode selection, the double quarter wave plates are used for laser frequency splitting.The overall design of LD pumped 2μm dual frequency solid state laser is completed. The parameters of the laser system are calculated and determined, including the length of the cavity, the size of the gain medium, the curvature of the coupling output mirror and so on. Performance simulation and parameter optimization of single frequency Tm:YAP laser is analyzed by using the LASCAD simulation software. The FEA algorithm is used to model the simulation laser system. Pump power distribution and oscillation mode size are compared at different positions along the cavity in order to optimosed cavity parameters. The absorption efficiency of single frequency laser is also simulated.
