With the growing popularity of 3D laser scanning technology, and the excellent technical level used in various engineering fields, the technology has been known as a great research hot spot. Based on the research of the three-dimensional excitation scanning technology, this paper conducts excitation of scanning technology. The specific content mainly summarized as:(1)This article introduce the acquisition process and the pretreatment process combining with the experience in the practical work, and summarizes some considerations and methods of the point cloud acquisition and pretreatment process.(2)The point cloud registration process is the key research in this article, aiming at improving the precision in the course of point cloud registration. When conducting the point cloud registration with the method of target, the seven transformation parameters is calculated with indirect adjustment. The principle of this method is simple and the algorithm can be conducted easily. Through experiment contrast, the registration accuracy is higher than characteristic point.(3)In view of the traditional sequence registration methods, this paper discusses the propagation law of registration error, aiming at this problem put forward the overall registration scheme and aspect of point cloud registration method of control point coordinates. Through a large number of experimental data, the improved registration method effectively improves the overall accuracy of point cloud.(4) In combination with a mountain clear scan in a given area of Guangdong province, this article discusses a complete set of earthwork calculation process of variation during the data acquisition and the final computation results. The result of the third chapter was introduced to point cloud registration scheme. And this paper takes the target as the same points of point cloud registration. In this process, traditional sequence registration method, the overall point cloud registration method and registration for control network coordinate transformation method were used in to generate the surface triangular mesh model, and the earthwork volume variation was be calculated with two phase mode. At the last, this paper conduct the result of 3 d scanning technology and traditional measurement methods, and find that 3 d laser scanner can be used in earthwork monitoring engineering effectively and can save time. The 3 d laser scanner has great advantage compared with the traditional method.
