The Research On News Social Responsibility From The Perspective Of Marxism

Nowadays, with the constantly deepening structural reform of politics and economy in China, the socioeconomic development has been maintaining the prosperous situation. Affected by the thriving market economy, the mass media is confronting plethora of conundrums regarding on the social responsibility. In order to cater the needs from the public and the market, the media has been exerting no efforts on the improvements of popularity, timeliness and supervision. However, there are also some severe issues during the reporting, including breaking the bottom line and subversion of the tradition and vague guidance, which may directly sabotage the social credibility of mass media. From the perspective of Marx’s view on journalism, the core idea is that the inherent mission of mass media is serving as the leader of social mainstream values and fulfilling the obligations of seeking the truth and being realistic with objective and neutral principles. Thus, in this paper, the social responsibility of mass media would be decoded through the Marx’s view on journalism with three dimensions, i.e. the role, principles, and social obligations.In this dissertation, with the application of Literature analysis method and interviewing method, the classical Marxists’ views on journalism (including Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Nikolai Lenin, Zedong Mao, Xiaoping Deng, Jintao Hu, Jinping Xi) have been reviewed and summarized from three aspects, including the role, social responsibility and obligation. Besides, the classical Marxists’ views on journalism may vary from each other in different time; nevertheless, the unified idea is that the mass media should act as the role of transmitting positive energy and bears the obligations of truthful reporting and social ethnics based on the principle of mass lines.Last but not the least, by studying on the social dilemmas of current mass media, this dissertation would present the unique solutions and relevant inspirations regarding on Marx’ view on journalism. From the perspective of social responsibility, the research on Marxists’views on journalism could shed the light on the development of modern mass media.
