Needle biopsy is a process during which the biopsy needle is used to cut and remove the expected tissue sample to identify and diagnose cancer and other diseades under the microcope.Biopsy needle, as the basic tools of biopsy, has the significant influence on the accuracy of biopsy. The puncture accuracy and puncture efficiency are needed to be improved for the single geometry the needle in the clinical application, the traditional way to design and produce needles is always tentative, which involves little needle tip geometry and lacking of systematicness. In this paper, the secondary development for automatic parameterized designing and optimizing integrated system of the biopsy needle has been carried out. The system can increase the speed of creating the needle tip model, reduce duplication of modeling steps and has developed a systematic process of the design and optimum of the biopsy needle tip geometry. What’s more, it can provide a reference for the development of the new style needle.This dissertation involves the following major sections:The cutting edge geometry medel of the needle tip is established.Biopsy can regard as the process of cutting soft tissue using the needle which is similar to the metal cutting process.Based on the analysis method of the metal cutting tools, this dissertation established the needle tip cutting edge geometry, and calculated the rake and inclination angle which are used to evaluate the cutting characteristic of the biopsy needle.The complex curved surface biopsy needle parameterized designing system is developed using Pro/Toolkit. This article established complex curved surface biopsy needle designing system through the secondary development of Pro/E because the ABAQUS is unable to build surface model. The key technology of the secondary development by the Pro/Toolkit and designing process of the complex curved surface biopsy needle parameterized designing system are detailed introduced.Parameterizing designing of complex curved surface biopsy needle designing system.In order to avoid the duplication of modeling the complex curved needle,the dissertation used the three-dimensional model combined with process control method to realize the parametrizing designing of complex curved surface biopsy needle parame-terized designing system based on the Pro/Toolkit parts parameterizedThe automatic parameterized designing and optimizing integrated system of the biopsy needle has been developed. This system is based on the secondary development of ABAQUS and has realized the modeling of the simple flat needle and importing of the complex surface needle.Through the interface of Matlab and Python, it can calculate the rake and inclination angle along the needle tip cutting edge geometry which is used to evaluate the cutting characteristic of the biopsy needle.
