In mainland China, "Reality TV" has always been popular since 2005. In an environment with continuous development of social communication, with the improvement of audiences’media literacy and the expansion of the scope of social common experiences, more free and diversified approaches have been applied into the mass communication, and the presentation of a "Reality TV" and the participation of the program audiences throughout a communication jointly constitutes the meaning space of such communication. Therefore, "Reality TV" has not only been considered as a type of TV program, but has also been developed into a media concept. In the view of the public and professionals, there is a high degree of overlapping or even confusing in terms of the meaning of the local context between "Reality TV" and "Truman Show". "Truman Show" has formed our initial impression of "Reality TV", thereafter over its long term intense communication, such cognition has become a stereotype. To recover the communicative appearance of Reality TV in mainland China, this study regards "Truman Show" as a subtype of "Reality TV" and the main pool from which the samples are selected for the purpose of analysis. In the analysis of Reality TV, this study has put forward two concepts which are united in the process of communication, namely the "High Situated Communication" and "Low Situated Communication". In order to analyze the characteristics of communication for Reality TV in the context of mainland China, we summarize them as a "double presentation". In combination of the three perspectives including behind, on or in front of the stage, two relative and interdependent communication approaches have covered the whole view of Reality TV communication. However, in order to recover, to the greatest extent, the ecology of communication for Reality TV in mainland China, we have also provided complementary explanations on special dissociated form of Reality TV, which involves a number of issues, including the local contexts for the development of Reality TV in China, the communication concept of mainstream media and media presentation of urban-rural dual structure in an effort to seek a more real meaning field in the simulation performance. In the end, to seek rational construction, this paper has reflected on 3 aspects of issues in Reality TV communication, including communication and information pattern, marginalized audiences and possibility of dialogue.
