With the large-scale reform of China’s higher education system and colleges? merger and expansion, course setting is becoming more complicated. And the workload of teaching management is also substantially increasing owing to the annually increasing number of students and the changing from the academic system to the credit system. The students? course selection is an important part of teaching management; however, it has become difficult for the traditional manual mode to meet the requirements, therefore, all of the colleges and universities are developing a course selection system so as to improve office efficiency and teaching flexibility.HUNAN XX vocational College has nearly 8,000 students. In recent years the original course selection has been operated manually by the educationa l administration personnel. At the beginning of every semester, the students are be informed of the courses and corresponding teachers accordingly, and then all information will be gathered in teaching affairs office, who will arrange teachers, classrooms and teaching equipments, etc. The data is cumbersome and the workload is very heavy, so the manual operations will be tending to make errors, which will result in teaching resources waste. What is worse, it will even lead to teaching accidents. So it has become a top priority to design an online course selection system.After analyzing the study background, aims, meanings and the current situations, this paper introduces a series of techniques, including B/S architecture, ASP.NET programming techniques, NOSQL database, ADO.NET data access technology and many other supporting techniques. Taking every step of a course selection into consideration, this system makes a detailed analys is on the requirements and functions, and based on ASP.NET programming techniques and B/S architecture, NOSQL Server as its database, it aims to solve the network congestion problem. Integrating information technology, networking and automation, this syst em wil l definitely meet the teaching requirements. Taking the campus network as the medium, this system enables teachers, students and teaching administration personnel to complete the tasks of a course selection, query and modification at any time and at any terminal.At the end of this paper, it makes a summary of the study and looks forward to the future of the design. As to the running effect, with friendly interface, easy operation and the close connection with scores query system and courses setting system, it has improved the management quality and efficiency greatly and promoted the modernization of academic affairs management.
