In recent years, with TV shows like ’Dad, where are we going?’and ’Running Man’ are hitting the TV, reality shows are raising a wave in China. These shows reveal TV and movie celebrities’normal lives on TV, and usually their lives are very private and unbeknown. Reality shows use methods of theme planning, post processing, interacting, atmosphere exaggerating and emotion evoking to lead their audiences into their preset circumstances, in order to fulfilling their emotional vacancy.By using celebrity effect, these TV shows promote emotional consumption through fulfilling audiences’satisfaction, sense of identity and psychological compensation.This paper argues that, along with the changing of interpersonal relationship in the social transition period, emotion enters the circulation market as an additional element of product. Emotion consumption is not only influenced by emotion, dream, desire, living condition and interpersonal relationship, but also be promoted by the rapid development of entertainment industry. During watching the reality shows, audiences can gain entertainment by fulfilling their emotional needs. It can be discussed under the development of celebrity consumption environment. Even though the reality show is developing rapidly, this kind of program also faces many problems like pan-entertainment and low-level of taste. How to balance the audience rating and values is the most serious challenge to reality shows.
