With the improvement of the economy, construction of foundation works in our country is speeding up. In this process, some geological engineering problems have become more and more prominent. Reasonable probe before and after the construction can reduce the occurrence of accidents, avoid unnecessary casualties and property losses. Compact seismographs are mainly used to probe geological stratum structure and be good for solving various engineering geological problems. The host control system of traditional centralized seismic instrument is large and heavy, moreover its user’s operating experience is poor. And it works with large power consumption and weak endurance ability. In order to increase the application of the centralized seismic instrument in the engineering construction probe, it is important to optimize its user operation experience and reduce its power consumption. Therefore, after comparison of the domestic and international host control system of seismograph, the project relied on compact seismograph GEIST-24 which was developed by Jilin University, re-design a better host control system based on ARM, which works with low power consumption and has good user experience.First, the paper analyzed the hardware and software of GEIST-24 centralized seismograph system and the function of original host control system. The paper was determined to the design of the main control system. The project decided to select MYS-SAM9X5 board as the main control system. The processor was AT91SAM9G35. The main control system and the data acquisition board were connected with the 100 M Ethernet. The seismic data storage media used the SD card. The user could control with the 7 Inch touch screen to interact the main control system.Based on the above hardware system, the project completed transplantation of Android operating system, built the Android application development and debugging environment, then completed the design of 24 centralized seismograph data acquisition software. Finally, the project realized the 24 bit seismic data acquisition, based on 100 M Ethernet. data file format storage based on the SD card seg2 seismic, playback of seismic data display and all kinds of seismic data acquisition parameter information interactive input.The prototype system was assembled, and the system was tested in the laboratory. Test results showed that the power consumption of the host system was less than 5W, and the data transmission rate was greater than 16 Mbps, which achieved the expected design goal. In the open air, respectively by means of impact compaction and sledgehammers as a source, the prototype system was obtained the ideal seismic data. The results indicated that the new design of main control system overall work well, it can be applied in the original GEIST-24 centralized seismic instrument.
