Head Up Display(HUD), began to used in military aircraft from the fifty’s of the last century. HUD is a display which is composed of electronic components and optical components. The application of HUD makes the pilot obtain the parameters and status about the flight of the aircraft in the state of head_up, this feature greatly improves the pilot’s handing efficiency and accuracy. In the recent few decades, HUD has been greatly used in the civil aviation field. Many airlines decide passenger aircraft must be equipped with HUD. So the research of the HUD has very important scientific and practical significance.Combining with the current situation and future development trend of the HUD technology, the paper study about HUD’s image source and signal processing in detail.At the same time,the paper put forward a feasible solution and conduct the solution.The main research contents of this paper include the following aspects:1.In the part of the HUD’s image source,this paper uses the liquid crystal display instead of the traditional CRT display as HUD’s image source. In order make the HUD’s image source work normally in low temperature environment, the paper take a measure which is adding a ITO glass on the surface of the liquid crystal screen. When the HUD work in low temperature environment, the ITO glass is heated. Thus, the temperature of the liquid of the liquid crystal panel will rise and the HUD’s image source will work normally.2.In the part of the back_light of the HUD’s image source, the paper uses GREE’s highlighted green LED lamps as the light source of the back_light. The way of LED’s connection is series_parallel connection. In order to make the HUD adapt to different light intensity environment, the paper adjust the input voltage of back_light source by designing DC/DC voltage stabilizing circuit.In voltage stabilizing circuit, two LM2596_ADJ integrated block parallel output current to improve power’s output capability.3.In the part of the HUD information processor part, the core processor is FPGA of Altera. HUD information processor can display the flight parameter in the form of an image or character. Moreover, HUD information processor can superpose the night4.vision image on the surface of the former and then HUD image source display them at the same time.In this paper, the design and debugging of each module are completed. The module can work properly by solving problems in the debugging process. The building and test of the whole system are accomplished in the paper,the result is the system is working steadily.
