In recent years, with the continuing improvement of the electronic instrument as plane computers and smart phone, micro-electronics technology and expanding sale of integrated circuit also have a great improvement and popularization. At the same time, these power management chips in all kinds of the electronic device are more and more perfect, and its performance continue to increase. The band-gap reference has been taking a very important part in the power management chip for its advanced output characteristics, which will not changes with the power supply voltage and has stable temperature characteristics. Within variety of reference sources, band-gap reference sources are most widely used, and now research for band-gap reference sources is also constantly deepened.This paper introduces the development of the band-gap reference voltage source. With the studying of the basic tenets of several typical band-gap references, We will design a band-gap reference based on the traditional Brokaw band-gap structure. In order to meet the requirements of the project, this reference source designed should catch the following technical specifications. Firstly, under typical operating voltage (3.6V),within a temperature range from-40 degrees to 120 degrees, the temperature coefficient must be less than 10ppm/℃.Secondly, during the operating voltage from 2.5V-5.0V, output voltage of reference source should be 1.2 ±0.01V stably. Thirdly, when at low frequencies (1-1KHz) conditions, the PSRR of the whole circuit should be over-60dB.Finally, the start-up time should be less than 50uS.This design is based on the BCD process model. The netlist file will be generated by Cadence for the simulation work with HSPICE, including the transient simulation, DC characteristics simulation, loop stability simulation and PSRR simulation. DC simulation contains the power supply voltage characteristics and temperature characteristics, and the start-up time will be given in the transient simulation.
