Recent years have witnessed the rapid development of wireless communication technology. Because of the continually advance of a variety of new communication systems and standards, many problems have arisen in the field of wireless communication system such as fierce competition in various standards, coexistence of multiple communication systems and the increasingly scarce frequency resources etc. In addition, a number of issues have also emerged, such as shortened life cycle of communication products, the rising of the Research and Development Cost and a soaring strong demand for a variety of communication systems interconnection for constantly requirements on communications bandwidth efficiency and anti- interference ability.To address those issues, it is desirable to design a compatibility of multiband, multimode and multifunctional hardware platform to achieve seamless connection of different communication systems and meet the various needs. As a new structure system, Software Radio is an effective solution. With the rapid development of digital signal processing technology and LSI technology for dynamic software radio software programming and hardware provides a very effective reconstruction favorable technical support, making the software more widely into a radio communication way, in the mobile communication technology is becoming increasingly important.Based on this, this thesis studies an FPGA-based software-defined radio platform. Preliminary studies are completed on system design of the platform and hardware implementation. The platform supports multi-band and multi-mode communication system which can achieve a variety of communication systems. Based on this analysis, the contents of this thesis have the following four points:1. This thesis introduces the software-defined radio, the structure and characteristics analysis of the current state of software radio research, technical constraints and future trends.2. This thesis researches the software radio features and high-speed signal processor selection, the several common analysis and comparison of the signal processor combined with the characteristics of the software radio platform to give out the selecting criteria. Then, the thesis goes on with a detailed theoretical analysis of the digital front-end technology in software radio and the concrete realization method is given.3. This thesis discusses the software radio platform design with its implementation, the composition and structure of implementation of each module in the platform and implementation of RF module, the data transfer between the FPGA module, PC and FPGA design. A FPGA-based software-defined radio platform is preliminary built up that supports PC end RF module and FPGA modules directly on-line reconfiguration. The actual performance testing is carried out for each main module in this platform.4. This thesis presents two specific applications of the software radio platform and the main achievement of the down-conversion and a communication transceiver GSM frequency receiver and data transmission control. Finally, the actual board-level verification is carried out to two applications of the software radio platform.
