A Preliminary Study On The Socialist Remould Of Chung Hwa Book Company

This thesis selecting the period from 1949 to 1954, regarding the socialist remould of Chung Hwa Book Company as an investigation object, by consulting the related historical documents, archives and the original diaries to explore the inherent clues and logic of the socialist remould on large-scale private publishing launched by the Communist Party in early period of People’s Republic of China.In aiming at the new cultural history study on modern Chinese publishing, Shanghai as the center of modern publishing had presented the "cultural business" as the characteristics of modernity because of their knowledge of cultural production spread and capitalist commercial, intellectual and moral sense of responsibility and businessman profited psychology. This thesis extend and expand this structure of thought by consulting the historical documents to clarify the Communist Party of China represented in the liberation of Chung Hwa Book Company as a large private publishing organization in the process of the socialist transformation of the policy. By analyzing the new regime on the reforming policy from the organization and the transformation of its distribution and printing, this thesis concluded that through the capital collected and redistribution of business and technology, the Chung Hwa Book Company had gradually changed its form of ownership, as a gripper and focus on the publication content of political, ideological, and of the editing subject. The whole historical process had finished with an approach that "from the commercial path to a cultural path" as an overall socialist transformation process of clues.To clarify the socialist transformation process of Chung Hwa Book Company, this thesis also made the use of Gramsci’s cultural hegemony theory as the thought and theory reference and analysis of the coordinate and conclude such large private publishing institutions as Chung Hwa Book Company’s internal at the forefront of retrofit motivation under the new regime of cultural capital and technology capital redistribution in the process and play an important role in its promoting. Further from the publishing industry in the socialist transformation of mining experience to the development of today’s publishing industry.
