In an increasingly competitive market environment, the ARPU value of single user has been growed slowly or reduced, as the rise of prices in energy and electricity, the mobile communications operator costs are on the rise. At the same time, operators get Base Transceiver Station sites and Base Transceiver Station room also becoming difficulty, competition in the mobile communications market has become more intense, in this situation, consideration for long-term development, China Mobile first proposed the new C-RAN Network Architecture. C-RAN is based on a centralized baseband pool, by the remote radio frequency unit and antenna collaborative wireless network, and based on open real-time cloud infrastructure platform type of radio access network, its innovative green network architecture can effectively reduce energy consumption, reduce capital and operating expenses; improve the spectrum efficiency, increasing user bandwidth; open platform that supports multi-standard and smooth upgrade; more end-user-friendly internet service. In the C-RAN architecture, operators can rapidly deploy or upgrade the network. Operators only need to deploy some of the new remote radio frequency unit and connected to the centralized baseband pool, can be easily added or expanded network capacity network coverage. If the network load increases, operators only need to add a new baseband pool can be a general purpose processor. In addition, the open platform and general-purpose processor enable software defined radio is easy to implement, so that the network can be upgraded via software updates achieve air interface standards, such radio access network upgrades and multi-standard coexistence easier. Different from traditional distributed base station, C-RAN breaks the fixed connection between remote radio frequency unit and the baseband processing unit. Each remote radio frequency unit does not belong to a baseband processing unit entity. Processing signals received or transmitted on each remote radio frequency unit is in a virtual base station baseband completed, and the processing capability of the virtual base station is composed of a part of the real-time virtual processor allocation technique of the baseband pool. Distributed remote radio frequency unit provides a high-capacity and wide coverage wireless network. Since these units dexterous and light, easy installation and maintenance, system CAPEX and OPEX low, so you can use a wide range of high density. High-bandwidth, low-latency optical transport network needs to be connected between all baseband processing unit and a remote radio unit. Baseband pool by a general purpose high-performance processor configuration, connected by a real-time virtual technology together, grouped into extremely powerful processing capabilities to provide the required processing performance requirements for each virtual base station. Centralized baseband significantly reduces the need for base station sites in room demand and resource aggregation, and a wide range of collaborative wireless transceiver technology possible. It is discussed in this paper under the current network in the GSM network, the introduction of the implementation of the deployment of C-RAN architecture, which simplifies remote GSM network Bureau site requirements, lower the difficulty of siting, precise and flexible coverage, saving construction and operation and maintenance costs.
