Since the 21st century, the cyberspace created by computer technology bred a series of sub-culture phenomenon with the youth as its major part. Doujin culture originated from Japan and grew in Internet is one of the treasures of culture, which then stood firm in Chinese mainland with the enrich and apply of media platforms. The original meaning of Doujin in the Internet Age is a recreation to the prototype from the fans with AI which its prominent characteristic shows the reconstruction to classics and authority. Compared with the movement of western youth subculture in last century and Japanese Doujin culture which anchored in real life, Chinese Doujin culture reveals its specific style because of its close connections with the media platform.This study is guided by the Youth Subculture Theory of Birmingham School chose from the western cultural research trend of thought, combined the development pattern of Japanese Doujin culture, established in the background of network communication in Chinese mainland, which selects the Doujin of the classic of the Chinese publishing industry-The Graver Robbers’Chronicles-as the analyzing object, describes the local Doujin culture in cross-media platform deeply and zooms deep in the group who produce and participate in the Doujin of this book with approaches of participatory observation, textual analysis and in-depth interview. This study aims to catch the theoretical influence and practical significance of media platform on Youth subculture and Future cultural production by basing on the reconstruction trait, and providing a detailed and comprehensive description of local Doujin culture.Furthermore, The Graver Robbers’Chronicles, as one of the few urban "super intellectual property", can be a typical representative of reconstruction object due to its strong cultural productivity, various copyright derivatives and high activity fans.This paper is composed of introduction, text and conclusion. Introduction briefly introduces the choice of thesis, purpose and meaning, establishes the theoretical framework based on the youth subculture theory and the relationships between media and youth subculture, sorts out and makes concept of Doujin culture discussed in this paper, combs the perspectives been used to interpret the existing Doujin culture, also defines the diversification of Doujin culture under the new media form and thus confirms the research methods and ideas.Chapter 1 introduces the text of The Graver Robbers’Chronicles and the presenting situation of the Doujin in The Graver Robbers’Chronicles at different media platform.The charm and commercialization of the text of The Graver Robbers’ Chronicles concentrates abundant Doujin productivities and a large number of Doujin group.Further description of the Doujin in The Graver Robbers’Chronicles at cross-media platform is based on a long-term participatory observation. The present mode of Doujin culture is affected by media platform, its own different communication characteristics, functions and the services provided by themselves. Also, the differences between media platforms moves the emergence of the Doujin culture’s idiosyncrasy:"cross-media".Chapter 2 illustrates the text’s reconstruction of Doujin of The Graver Robbers’ Chronicles. With the assistance of text analysis method and massive text data, this chapter reveals the way that Doujin culture "reconstruct" the original text to reproduce its own significance and to form its own model through media platform from text type, text structure and text plot these three aspects. Moreover, this process of reconstruction also implicates the Doujin culture’s resistance to the mainstream culture and the alignment with the production logic of commercial culture.Chapter 3 explores the preparation process of the Doujin groups establish their identification gradually through "reconstructing". On the basis of chapter 2, chapter 3 refers to the result of the participatory observation and the records from in-depth interview, analyses the crisis of identity of The Graver Robbers’Chronicles fans caused by media technology as well as consumer culture, and analyses the way how fans reconstruct the identity from the "communicators" to "audiences". Above all, they are the basis of the Doujin culture groups looking for a sense of belonging.Chapter 4 starts from the overall prospect of the present youth subculture communication. The problem that the research of culture has to face is the alternation of media technology drive the development of communication environment. Doujin culture as an epitome of the culture communication in the media convergence reflects the dynamic relationship between the physical convergence of media and the conscious convergence of culture, and includes the trend of development of the whole cultural communication.The conclusion summarizes the full text, points out the limitations of this study and makes expectations and prospects the creative potential of the youngsters.
