With the development of the times and the advancement of the Internet, niche culture has become more diverse in its expressions driven by a more civilianized technology. The increasing quality and quantity of doujin works in the current new media environment is a manifestation of the nurturing of niche culture by the Internet.Doujin culture is defined in mainland China as "reading and following behavior caused by the works derived from the original creation",and the core of this culture is the creation of Doujin works, which is considered "re-creation" in a broad sense. The modern Doujin culture is considered to be an import from Japan and is deeply influenced by the Japanese ACG culture, while the European and American fan culture, which developed in the same period as Japan,is also considered to have enriched the contemporary Doujin culture.Exploring Chinese history,in fact, there has been similar cases of fan fiction creating since the Yuan Dynasty, which gradually developed in the late Qing Dynasty, then been temporarily ceased by the followed wars.It is in this historical origin and the development of Internet technology that contemporary Chinese Doujin culture has revealed its uniqueness and cohesion with its thousand-year-old culture as well as spark of contemporary technological progress. As a flexible way of fan re-creation,fan works are also showing a stronger vitality. Most contemporary studies of Chinese Doujin culture are based on the contemporary absorption of Japanese "Doujin" and European and American fan culture, and Doujin culture shows obvious characteristics of fan behavior. The expanding spread of Chinese Doujin-culture and its popularization are inextricably linked to media development, social psychology, youth subculture, and group communication. The expansion of Doujin culture is closely related to the influence of the original works themselves. As a recently emerged film and television genre, the TV series adapted by BL novels have a certain influence. The audience distribution of this kind of TV series and the fan works have a high degree of overlap,so the spread of Doujin culture expands again.Based on the development of Doujin culture in modern times, this thesis explores the unique features of it as a niche culture in the modern Internet environment, taking into account the origin of this culture in Chinese traditional history. Finally, the thesis combines the long tail theory of the Internet to find the path of niche culture to mass communication.
