Automated testing technology(ATT) is a rapidly developing field in electronic industry. The computerized auto-test system, which combines the modern electronic measurement technology, automation, communication technology and software engineering, is growing to be an important trend for modern electronic products.In this thesis, the automated testing method for a wide-band millimeter wave transceiver(mm-wave transceiver) is studied and realized. As the modern mm-wave transceiver requires large bandwidth, fine frequency steps, high dynamic range, low spectral spurious, the artificial testing methods have become increasingly complicated. The traditional artificial testing method is inefficient for the testing procedure in many complicated electronic devices. Furthermore, errors may incur in large volumes of testing data due to artificial errors.ATT is introduced in the testing method for a wide-band mm-wave transceiver, which significantly decreases testing time, testing eliminates error and data defects, and realizes automated fault-diagnose. It plays a crucial role in saving labor costs and improving productivity.Windows based integrated development environment, Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and MFC are utilized to realize the testing platform, which controls and tests the mm-wave transceiver. Firstly, characteristics and applications of RS-232 bus, TCP/IP, Socket technology and the SCPI command are discussed. Secondly, based on Windows platform, the device control and data transfer, the processing scheme of the mm-wave transceiver are given with practical code models. Thirdly, a spectrometer communication, control scheme and the automated testing scheme are given based on the application of these technologies with practical code models. Finally, the above sub-models in MFC are integrated and the mm-wave automated testing platform is tested, the results demonstrate that the platform achieves the goal of testing mm-wave transceiver.
