Scientific and technological progress has changed the presentation forms of media. The media which are changing with each passing day has revolutionized the traditional ways of information dissemination completely and has changed people’s behaviors and living conditions. Nowadays the development of the information technology and the internet has become an important factor in the exchange of information and consuming culture. It has been an important aspect of the formation and establishment of new cultural forms. The development of images brings human beings into an era of reading pictures. At the same time, as a cultural carrier and communication medium,the image has a great change in the context of new media.The production and output of images are stepping more and more into personal lives and public fields,which form new industrial forms and economic growth patterns. Development of technology is far beyond our imagination,and under new media,image has also been given some new meaning,character and shape.Since the development of photography,image has had a more and more prominent status in our daily life. In new media and visual culture age,we have become people who are wandering in the cyberspace. Our fragmented life is surrounded by images. New forms and phenomenon of images are emerging in endlessly in which micro films,networking homemade drama,mobile videos and mobile photographs are included,and these images are influencing our life widely. Images have become our show,memories,communicative means,and artistic expression of life,as well as advertisements and news. Meanwhile the development of images has complex and profound connection with politics,economy and culture. Production and experiences of images as well as people’s reaction to images reflect the current lifestyle and ideologies. Image works greatly influence the emotions and perceptions of the audience. This paper first combs the characteristics of new media and their influences on images. Secondly,it analyzes and summarizes the changes of images themselves with respect to structures and characteristics since their generation and development as well as their presentation in the old media and cultural environment as well as the environment of new media. Then it analyzes the imaging modalities in the mobile internet environment and the revealing of the present ideology,and talks about the ecological characteristics of the image culture with the background of the mobile internet.
