FC protocol is a high-speed serial data transmission protocol developed by the American National Standards Institute.It combines the advantages of channel technology and network technology.Due to the high bandwidth,high transmission rate,long-distance transmission,high reliability and scalability,etc,FC technology has replaced the traditional TCP/IP network in a SAN,as a new generation of data transfer standard.As a core component of the SAN, FC switches are choose fiber as a transmission medium,complete FC network devices in the system of information exchange capabilities of each node,with a fast,strong anti-jamming ability,etc.FC switch performance is good or bad will directly affect the entire SAN functionality. The main work of this paper is to design and implement an FC switch chip data exchange system,and verified the correctness of its functions.The paper analyse the FC protocol in-depth firstly,describes the overall architecture of the FC switch chip,with a focus on the FC switch chip data exchange system design discussed.The primary problem of the data exchange system design is the select of switch technology and switch fabric.There are two mainstream switching technology:circuit-switched and packet-switched.According to the application requirements of the chip,the data exchange system determines the choice of packet switching technology.In the selection of the switch fabric,the data exchange system selects the packet switching technique crossbar type switch fabric.This structure not only to meet any number of input ports and any number of output ports interconnect but also can provide a number of different ports to synchronize data transmission without interference.As determining the data exchange system design,the paper introduced data exchange system detailed design process for each functional module according to the data flow in the data exchange system.Since the packet switching technology is characterized by store and forward,the data exchange system provided a corresponding data buffer for storing data in the switching system. After the data is written to the data buffer,the scheduler will be parsed data information,to determine the data by querying the routing table and forwards it to the destination port of the destination port.In order to verify the correctness of the data exchange system design,the paper use the simulation method for switching system module-level verification and virtual platform verification.As can be seen from the simulation results,the design of data exchange system has achieved the basic exchange functions and some extended features,verify the results achieved the expected,but for verification of data exchange system is not enough.The design at the module-level verification and virtual platform verification completed only directional test,it has not been verified FPGA-based platform.Hence the need to constantly optimize and improve the work of the late.
