Passive micromixer is a important micro-devices in the field of microfluidics, which is widely used in Biochemical Engineering. Because it mixes liquid solutions without the aid of external energy, the geometry structure of the passive micromixer becomes particularly significant. With rapid development of processing technologies, the structures of micro-channels are many and varied. According to the mixing mechanism of the molecular diffusion and convection chaos in the passive micromixers, a variety of structural design and optimization have been completed. Firstly, the related parameters of CO2 laser processing and thermal bonding process have been optimized through orthogonal experiments and the processability of the micro-channel has been understood clearly. Then numerical simulations and mixing experiments of various creeping microchannels have been carried out and the comparison and evaluation on the property of the micromixers has been finished. It is a simple and effective technology to improve species mixing that putting up obstacles in the microchannel. The orthogonal experiment method was applied for layout optimization design of obstacles and finally a micromixer with mixing efficiency up 90% was obtained. Topology optimization of the micro-channel is a relatively new subject. The square-wave micromixer was transformed based on the topological model of reverse flow proposed by professor Olesen. Finally, topological structure micromixer have a maximum increase of 67% in mixing rate relative to square wave mixer.
