In recent years, with the development of radio communication technology, the demand of high quality and high data satellite communication is increasing. Portable satellite communication station, which has the advantages of convenient operation,suitable for field work environment, plays an important role in the field of satellite communication, and also plays an important role in the field of command and dispatch,information transmission, real-time voice, video, data and other multimedia communication services.In this paper, a portable satellite communication ground station as the research object, the main research of the antenna unit of the portable station. According to the requirement of the system to the antenna unit, a kind of Ku band antenna unit with equivalent aperture of 1 meter is developed. The antenna unit is based on the VSAT satellite communication network, through the antenna unit, and the rear command center to establish a transparent link based on IP, to achieve the user’s business needs.The portable satellite communication earth station has a fully automatic key to the star function, equipment from the deployment, tracking, star, adjustment, collection can be fully automated, easy to install, without calibration, fast on the star, and has two kinds of automatic and manual work mode. When the power is down, a hand crank can be manually operated.The antenna unit of general layout design, the antenna unit is divided into antenna feeder system, servo system, power supply system. The servo system is designed by theoretical calculation, and the auto-to-star is realized by the corresponding tracking algorithm. In order to reduce the weight of the antenna element, the reflective surface of the carbon fiber material is used to manufacture the antenna, which can not only improve the intensity of the reflective surface but also reduce its weight. At the same time, the ABAQUS software is used to simulate the intensity of the reflection surface and the supporting frame of the antenna element system, and the antenna element can work under the 8-level wind. In view of the high heat problem of the power amplifier module in the system, the cooling system of the power amplifier module is designed.The optimization design of the heat source distribution is carried out by calculating theheat source heat. By optimizing the low heat resistance material, the heat resistance of the heat resistance is reduced. By optimizing the structure design of the radiator, the heat dissipation capability is improved. And the 6SigmaET software is used to simulate the cooling system. The results show that the cooling system can meet the cooling requirements of the power amplifier module, which can ensure the normal communication of the portable station.
