With the advancement of technology and the continuous development of informationtechnology, satellite communication equipment with growing demand has been widely usedin military, newsletters and other areas. The functional requirements of satellitecommunication equipment in market are also increasing. Portable satellite equipment also hassignificant application in radio and television, transportation, fisheries, mining, surveying andmapping, tourism, petroleum, military, police, fire, medical and other fields. Therefore,convenient and reliable manner control system has become an indispensable part of thesatellite communication equipment.This paper describes the design of control system of portable satellite antenna based onFPGA. According to the space coordinates transformation theory, this system solves satellitetracking angle and the common method of satellite tracking. Using FPGA chip as the controlcore, the system integrates GPS, inclinometer, beacon receiver, tuner sensor equipment andrealize the drive motor control antenna for receiving satellite signals. The design of thecontrol software which is written under the NIOS II IED environment has achieved the motordriver, sensor data collection and satellite signal tracking and other functions. Monitoringsoftware using Visual Basic Windows systems under6.0as a development language, realizeshuman-machine operation, and is able to monitor antenna attitude and control antenna toachieve the function of finding star.The system through debugging can be very good to meet the design requirements, hasgood reliability, good man-machine interface greatly improve the operability.
