With the rapid development of application in computer science and widespread use of automatic control technology, temperature control theory has become an important research field of automatic control technology. Electric furnace is a comer heating equipment in scientific experiment, industrial production and other processes, and has been widely used in laboratory sampling, metallurgical smelting, heating and cooling segment in heat treatment of workpieces. An important indicator of the production process is the heating temperature, the quality of control system has a direct impact on product.Nowadays, FPGA has been more widely used. Using FPGA to design the controller can not only reduce the number system devices, but also has the characteristics of flexible design, field programmable, small volume etc., and in the condition of bad environment conventional microprocessor prone to program run away, while FPGA can solve this problem well.This paper is to design a platform for FPGA-based temperature control experimental system. This experimental system consists of FPGA core module, communication module, The control output module, temperature detecting module, electric heating furnace and the application software etc. This experimental system using DSP Buider module controller to design and simulate in Simulink, then export HDL files of the controller and use it in FPGA hardware implementation. According to the characteristics of controlled object, this paper designs PID and Dahlin controller, and using genetic algorithm to optimize the parameters of the PID and Dahlin controller. It approves that this experimental system can provide technical supports and a real experimental environment for researchers to study and research control theories.
