With the laser engraving technology was widely used in the field of flexography, “flat dot” came into being. The special appearance of dots made the printing-form had a good printing stability. Based on the requirements of graphic reproduction about the printing-form surface features, and according to the “flat dot” for modeling, this paper researched on the three-dimensional dot mathematical model from the theory, principles and technologies. The mathematical model was constructed by multi-function combination method, which to describe the three-dimensional dot of printing-form surface.According to the mathematical model, we can obtain the description content of the three-dimensional dot appearance after image screening. To write C program and generate three-dimensional date files(OBJ files). After handling with those dates, we can use three-dimensional print technology to produce three-dimensional dot solid models of the printing-form surface.Research on three-dimensional dot solid models provided a new way for flexographic platemaking and provided the guide for flexographic screening. At the same time, three-dimensional dot models provide new technical support for image dates processing of three-dimensional printing equipment.
