Three-Dimensional Printing (3DP) which uses inkjet technology is an additivemanufacturing method based on dispersion, deposition and droplet jetting, it has theadvantages of low-cost, high-automation, having no special requirements for the shape orthe structure of components, etc. In the traditional machine-tool industry, it is impossiblefor people to manufacture metallic components with complicated shape or structure. Aslong as we can successfully apply this3DP technique to manufacturing metalliccomponents, this issue will be combated. Depending on this assumption, this researchplans to use3DP machine to manufacture metallic components, and conducts theinterrelated experiments.To start with, this study details the fundamental theory and the whole process of3DPuses inkjet technology; analyses and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of threekinds of rapid prototyping methods, which lays the theoretical work for applying3DPtechnique to metallic components manufacturing.Secondly, depending on the analysis and other theories, it finishes the building of themotion system and the paving system; with the basic principles to fluids and electricity, itsuccessfully modifies a normal inkjet printer into the injection system.Then, it establishes the classical paving system; connected with the real paving process,some factors such as layer thickness, counter-rolling rotator speed, amplitude, frequencyand so on are discussed.After that, specifies the entire process of powder system development, including theselect and development of powder, binder, ink, etc. Meanwhile, it provides some answersto the potential problems in each step.Lastly, by using the3DP machine that includes the homemade hardware as well asprogram and the420stainless steel powder, metallic samples are printed and related datais collected successfully.
